Team Lightning v Sheffield Thursday
The first chance of the game fell to Sheffield Thursday. The ball worked well down the right hand side and was pulled back to the unmarked Gary noonan on the edge of the box but he couldn’t keep his shot down. Team lightning took the lead after 20 minutes when Philly Maher found himself unmarked in the box and slotted him a lovely finish into the bottom corner. Only 5 minutes later Damien wobbler Collins again found himself unmarked and a lovely finish left the keeper no chance as lightning went in 2-0 up at half time.
Sheffield knew they needed to answer back quickly to get back into the game, but it was lightning who again came out stronger and looked in total control of the tie with the experience of Aidan Hurley and Damien Collins really bossing proceedings.
