As the rain poured down on the north campus pitches, the eye witness accounts of the 17 goals tonight were few and far between as the sanctuary of the car proved more desirable. In the opening game of the night, a Kevin O'Mahony hat-trick saw Alfies run out 6-2 winners over the Cutters. Fresh off their Senior Hurling Championship success, the Clonlara contingent had the worst of it in the first half as Alfies came in 2-0 up at the break. Despite getting 2 back in the second half, Alfies put in a solid performance and added 4 more goals to secure the 3 points.
In the battle between Bluestreak and Sporting Viking, a goal in either half - Lukas Sheahan in the first half and Danny in the second - saw Bluestreak grab an important win and stay within touching distance of the top of the table.
Robbie Carey opened the scoring in the 19th minute for Brazuca in their game against Barely Athletic. Brazuca kept Barely at bay for the rest of the game and added 2 more goals of their own for a final score of Brazuca 3-0 Barely Athletic.
Polonia Limerick hit the front in the 12th minute with a well worked goal. Team Lightning responded with an equaliser from Phil Maher in the 23rd minute. A well controlled aerial pass was duly finished and had the teams level at the half. Conor scored for the Lightning in the 42nd minute and a 3rd goal was added in the 51st minute. 3-1 Lightning the final score as they maintain their 100% start to the season.
