The match between Alfies and Black Swans got off to a flyer as the teams traded goals in the opening minutes. An inswinging Jeff O'Donnell ball from wide found its way directly into the far corner to give Alfies a one goal lead in the 2nd minute. Approximately 60 seconds later, the Swans were back level when a fast paced cross from the left was deflected in. Black Swans threatened in the 18th minute when a good carry from midfield saw the resulting shot saved. Jeff O'Donnell got his brace as Alfies hit the front in the second half taking the lead a few minutes after the restart. The Black Swans kept looking threatening but just couldn't find the crucial bit of luck to get back in the game. In the 38th minute the Black Swans found an overload in the attacking third but the Alfies keeper was quick off his mark to dive at the feet of the attacker and prevent and further risk to his goal. In the 44th minute, a good ball was set on the edge of the box for the Swans but the resulting shot went just wide. Alfies nicked a third against the run of play in the 47th minute when an Eoghan Quigley cross from the right dropped in. In the final quarter of the game, Black Swans will be wondering how they didn't score. In the 53rd minute, a dribble to the byline saw a ball dragged back and after skipping the first man, the resulting shot was saved. The ball wasn't dead however but the Alfies keeper again made a great save as the ball was on its way into the bottom corner. In the 55th minute, a cross was killed dead by the Swans striker and played to the back post. The Swans forward lifted the ball over the oncoming keeper only for the Alfies defender to make a goal line clearance. Shane Scanlon added a 4th in the dying minutes to give Alfies a 4-1 win.
Barely Athletic never got going in their game vs Bluestreak and found themselves conceding 3 goals in quick succession between the 9th and 13th miunte. The first goal looked to go straight in from corner after a mix up in the Barely ranks. Bluestreak didn't give Barely a chance to composes themselves and hit them with a quick breakaway attack in the 11th minute, Gary grabbing the goal. Josh added a third with a similar finish a couple of minutes later. Bluestreak added a 4th in the 23rd minute with a deft finish over the keeper and a fifth was added on the stroke of half time. Credit to Barely in the second half who put in a good shift, but their search for goals as the half wore on saw them exposed at the back and Bluestreak added 3 more to put a gloss on the scoreline. Bluestreak record back-to-back 8-0 wins to make it 20 goals from 4 games so far this season.
Cappquigley took an early lead in their game vs Brazuca Legends. Some Bale-esque pace from OJ down the right wing allowed him play a cross into the Brazuca box. The Cappa forward got a strike away and the Brazuca keeper was only able to parry it. OJ again showed impressive quickness and agility to get to the ball before the keeper could recover it. 1-0 Cappaquigley. Brazuca responded well and added three goals in the remainder of the half. Fernando getting on the scoresheet in the 23rd minute to give Brazuca a 3-1 lead. Cappaquigly were generally happy to play on the counter as Brazuca had plenty of the ball in the opposition half. The quick Cappa attack was sprung in the 34th when an overload saw OJ on the scoresheet again as he made it 3-2. A tight and tense game continued as the light showers continued to fall on the north campus pitches. Brazuca got the crucial goal in the 42nd minute (video below) to seal an important victory.
