Friday Night Lights overcome Delta on penalties

In a close game, Friday Night Lights struck first to take the lead vs Delta. The "B" League champs put it up to the "A" league runners-up in a well contested game. Lights had plenty of chances and possession in the second half, but a 47th minute corner put Delta back in the game and set up a thrilling conclusion. With 5 minutes to go, a cut to Delta's keeper forced a stop in play and a rejigging of Delta's back line. The deadlock was not to be broken and off to penalties we went. After 7 perfect penalties, Delta's 4th rattled the cross bar. With the opportunity the wrap it up, Friday Night Lights had their next penalty saved as Delta's stand in keeper got down low to knock the ball away and keep Delta's hopes alive. It went to 7 penalties each before Friday Night Light's keeper proved the hero and sent FNL into the Champions League Final.

In the Europa League, Alfies recorded a 2-0 win over Cutters. After going one ahead in the first half, Cutters goalkeeper Feilim Begley was forced off with a thumb injury on the stroke of half time. Short on bodies, Cutters couldn't muster a comeback and Alfies added one more in the second half to book their place in the Europa League final.

The other semi-final saw a dramatic game where Wembledines came from behind to beat Lightning 2-1. A solo goal from the second half kick off saw Lightning take the lead via Craig Mads. A well contested second half saw its second goal in the 48th minute as Dines levelled it up. In the dying minutes of the game, Lightning had possession in the Wembledines third but the Dines defenders and goalkeeper did enough to prevent Lightning from creating a goal scoring opportunity. As the Delta-Friday Night Lights match was paused due to injury, both games looked to be heading to penalties. Wembledines managed to grab a late late goal though to secure a 2-1 win and set up a meeting with Alfies in the Europa League final.
