15/11/19 - Matchday 9 - Match Reports

Bluestreak FC 2-1 Delta Rejects FC

The early kick off saw bottom take on second from bottom, bluestreak had to pace themselves for a second game at 7pm. Both teams struggled to get settled in the game possibly down to the freezing temperatures. Bluestreak won a corner with a bit of good work down the right wing from Dara Shanahan. After a beautiful delivery big man James Hayes got something on it to put it in the back of the net which had Bluestreak dreaming of their first victory. Delta Rejects kicked into gear and began passing it around nicely before they got a great opportunity from a lovely ball straight down the middle only to be cleared away from a last ditch challenge from Bluestreaks steely defence. Brian McKeown made no mistake to make it 1-1. Bluestreak made it 2-1 thanks to that man again James Hayes. Bluestreak ran out deserved winners with the first victory this season and got the perfect start for their double header night. Delta Rejects could not build on their first points from the previous week and finished the league in 9th.

Bluestreak FC 3-0 Boca Seniors

Boca seemed to have the dream match here playing a Bluestreak team with 60 minutes worth of mileage on the clock. Dara Shanahan made it 1-0 to continue his scoring form thanks to a lovely finish.  Boca struggled to get a foot on it as passes consistently went astray. Bluestreak made no mistake in getting another as Big Dara laid it on a plate for little Darragh to finish beautifully into the bottom corner to put Bluestreak in dreamland, they could be getting more points in 1 night than the entire previous season. Boca began getting somewhere with some half chances but received a killer blow from Bluestreaks Callum Stewart to ruin Bocas hopes of getting something from this game. Bluestreak made it 6 from 6 on the night and got their first two victories of the league. Bluestreak finish up in 6th before the teams get split up with Boca finishing 7th.

Team Lightning 2-0 The lakers

Team lightning were still reeling off their shock win against top team Delta. Eyebrows were raised on the sidelines as Chimka didn’t start this game. The lakers had the better of the opening few minutes until Chimka had to come on for the injured Ian Sullivan. Chimka made an instant impact with a goal on the 23rd minute. The lakers began getting a foot on it, stroking it around nicely with some very nice build up play leading to a decent chance spurned from Lakers strikeforce. They went in at the half with all to play for. Chimka was at it again with a beautiful finish 7 minutes into the second half to make it 2-0. Team lightning go marching on with 4 wins on the bounce. If they can continue this form as they are split into two leagues who knows where they can end up. Lakers finish up 8th with a season that has petered out.

Wembeldines 2-4 Cutters

There was some sore heads as the top 4 teams played at the same time to decide who won the title. Analog needed a favour from Cutters and a victory over Delta for them to win the league. Delta had their fath in their own hands with any result winding up with the league trophy in their cabinet. Wembeldines needed to win here and Delta needed to lose for Wembeldines to win the league. They got off to the worst possible start as Cutters’ Cormac O’Donovan made a storming run from the centre circle and a powerful finish from just outside the box.  Cutters were really at it tonight as they got another before half time to make it 2-0. Wembeldines Pa O’Donovan got one back which resulted in some handbags leading to a Wembeldines sinbin just before the half. 2-1 at half time still all to play for. Padraig O’Loughlin made it 3-1 after the half to settle the Cutters nerves again. Wembeldines were throwing the kitchen sink at it in the hope of snatching the league. This level of attack eventually told as Wembeldines made it 3-2 thanks to a Brian Aherne penalty. Wembeldines began to dream as the other game stayed 0-0. Unfortunately for Dines Cathal Tots O’Connell dashed their hopes with a lovely finish to make it 4-2. Cutters finished up 2nd in the end with Dines heartbroken in 4th.

Delta 1-0 Analog

This was a cagey affair as both teams were afraid to concede. Surprisingly, the game was lacking a bit of quality as the first half was peppered with free kicks. Analog began to get excited at the half as they overheard cutters were leading. They knew they needed a goal and truly went for it in the second half with the Delta defence resisting well and putting fear into Analog with their lightning fast counter attacks. Eventually Delta put the game to bed with a late goal to give themselves the league. Delta win the league and Analog finish up in 3rd. We are in for an exciting top league with 2nd and 4th only separated by goal difference and an in form Team lightning side looking to dethrone Delta.
