Team Lightning do the double!

Two debutant teams captured silverware in Friday night's Cup finals. Cappaquigley Athletic, a team compromised of medical students studying in the University, defeated Alfies Heroes by a scoreline of 2-1. Cappa took a 2 goal lead in the first half before Alfies grabbed one back in the second half. Despite Alfies sustained pressure, Cappaquigley managed to hold out to capture the Inter-toto Cup.

In the Europa League Final, Brazuca Legends' solitary goal was enough to overcome Bluestreak. A classic Cup final affair with a mixture of competitiveness and caginess, Guillerme's goal in the 12th minute separated the teams at the final whistle. A one-two in the box set up a goal scoring opportunity which was duly taken with a high finish into the corner. 

In the Champions League, Wembledines never got going and succumbed 4-0 to Team Lightning. A goalkeeping mistake gave Lightning the lead and a second was added after some excellent build up play. A ball played down the left side was crossed in just before crossing the byline. Wobbler rose highest in the box but instead of heading the ball goalwards, he had the presence of mind to cushion a head back to his team mate. Another backwards pass set up Mick Evitt just outside the box who met the ball with a sweet strike to put Lightning two up. As Wembledines pushed looking for a way back into the game, Lightning nicked two more in the dying minutes to finish as 4-0 winners.
