As the post-season kicks off, it's Cutters, Bluestreak and Deportivo recording wins on the opening day.
A Micheal O'Loughlan hat-trick got Cutters up and running in their tie vs BD Ballers. The first came courtesy of a Sean Begley cross which Locky knocked in. The second goal was created by Tom Power who burst through the Ballers defence to assist his team mate. The 3rd of the hat trick came after a long ball in from David Fitzgerald which O'Loughlan managed to convert. Cutters weren't done there and a blistering free kick from Corman O'Donovan saw the ball kept out by the keeper but Padraig Hession was on hand to head in the rebound and nab Cutters' 4th.
Regular season champs Wembledines were held to a two all in a feisty encounter with Alfies. In the 23rd minute, Alfies worked the ball from left to right and a shot from ten yards couldn't be blocked despite the best efforts from Dines defender Donal Hussey and keeper Frank McEvoy. Dines grabbed a lovely goal just before the half time break (video below). A ball was played in from the left and met with a beautiful one touch finish. The game finished honours even.
As the rain picked up for the 8pm kick offs, the pitch side reporting deteriorated as the view from the car didn't offer the same perspective as when pitch side. Bluestreak recorded a 3-1 win over Team Lightning whilst a late penalty from Barely was not enough to rescue anything vs Deportivo who won 2-1.
