 Kearney's Army 0-3 Delta

Kearney's Army looked to build upon their strong showing last week and were the first team to have the ball in the back of the net. The goal which originated from the left hand side was adjudged to be offside however and Delta breathed a sigh of relief. Delta took the lead in the 23rd minute. With both teams scrapping for the ball about midway into the Kearney's half, Delta came away with the ball and the ball fell to Dave McPhillips. After taking a touch to put the ball into his path, McPhillips faced pressure from the recovering defender and on-rushing keeper but managed to stab the ball past the keeper who managed to get a touch but couldn't prevent the ball from hitting the back of the net. After some dancing feet on the left byline, Delta got their second goal in the 32nd minute. A third goal from Check was added in the 44th minute. In the 45th minute, Delta's midfielder had a strike from 45 yards out forcing a a good save from the Kearney's keeper who managed to tip it over the bar - what a goal that would have been! The match finished 3-0 to Delta

Wembledines 2-1 Delta United FC

As top met bottom, it took a penalty in the 55th minute for Wembledines to open scoring. An even first half saw the teams come in level at half time. It was not a case of Delta Utd hanging versus the league leaders as they had plenty of play during the game. Perhaps their best chance came in 42nd minute when a cross field ball from deep was headed clear by Hussey. The clearance was picked up by Delta Utd's Oussa who played a lovely chipped through which landed right around the penalty spot. With Delta Utd's forward racing to get to it, Wembledines keeper Frank McEvoy just got there ahead of him to smother the ball. Heartbreak for Delta Utd came 5 minutes from time as Wembledines were awarded a penalty (video below). Dines added a second in the 58th to give themselves a bit of breathing room in the final minutes. Delta Utd got one back with the final kick of the game. A great strike from a central area about 25 yards out found the top corner to add a silver lining for Delta United FC.

Cutters 0-4 Boca Seniors

A fast start from Boca saw them score twice in the opening 6 minutes. In the 4th minute, a breaking ball in the middle fell to a Boca forward who performed some nice trickery to take it past the Cutters keeper and give Boca the lead. Two minutes later and the Boca lead was doubled after a nice break down the right. It was almost three in the 13th minute when a low cross from the right was met with a one touch shot. Feilim Begley had to act quickly to a strong right foot to the low shot and keep the deficit to two. Boca eventually did make it 3 in the 19th minute when a cross from the right was met with a nice right footed finish. Boca added one more in the second half to continue their ascent up the table.

Alfies v Bluestreak

In the 18th minute, a cross from Callum was well controlled by James Hayes. After taking the ball the down, the resulting shot forced a save from the Alfies keeper. The ball then fell to the other Hayes on the edge of the box who recorded another shot on target for Bluestreak, but the Alfies keeper was equal to the shot and held onto the ball this time. In the 22nd minute, Alfies set the ball on the edge of the box. A great strike saw the ball go marginally wide of the top corner. In the 29th minute, Callum found himself in possession of the ball entering the Alfies box at a wide angle. With the option of crossing or shooting, the right winger went for a shot at the near post. The ball smashed off the top corner of the goalframe and the teams went in scoreless at half time. Alfies took the lead 8 minutes into the second half. With Alfies in possession down the right, a Bluestreak tackle saw the resulting loose ball fall to an Alfies player. A cross was met by a looping header which found it's way into the goal. Minutes later, the game was abandoned. Unfortunately, an ambulance was needed for the second time in three weeks. Best wishes to Bluestreak's Callum on his recovery from a bad injury.
