Delta 6-1 Analog
Delta opened the scoring 5 minutes in with a sweet finish from Dave McPhillips. A shot from the edge of the box was deftly inserted into the far corner leaving the Analog keeper with no chance. McPhillips was on the scoresheet minutes later after a John O'Sullivan ball across the face of the goal left McPhillips with a tap in. Analog responded immediately and grabbed one back. Ger McInerney's right footed strike from a central area on the edge of the box nestled neatly into bottom corner to make it 2-1. Unfortunately for Analog, this was as good as it was going to get. McPhillips completed his first half hat trick in the 20th minute and after Analog forced a save from the Delta keeper 4 minutes later, Delta went up the other end to make it 4-1 (that man McPhillips adding another to his tally). Delta added 2 more in the second half for a final score of Delta 6-1 Analog.
Bluestreak 3-2 Lakers
A contentious penalty allowed Bluestreak overturn a 2-0 half time deficit to come back to gain all three points vs Lakers. Colm opened the scoring for Lakers and a screamer from outside the box from John made it 2-0. Bluestreak came out strong in the second half and nearly got one back in the 32nd minute - a front post header going narrowly over. Bluestreak got their goal three minutes later after an expertly delivered corner from Joe Kiely was eventually turned in. Lakers nearly restored their 2 goal lead immediately from the restart but their shot fell just wide. The 45th minute produced an excellent save from the Lakers keeper as he kept out a long distance Bluestreak shot. The strong wind around Cappavilla played a big role in all games this evening with the most noteworthy incident occurring after Bluestreak were awarded a penalty. The ball appeared to be rolling as it was struck with the Lakers keeper assuming the penalty would have to be retaken. The referee awarded the goal however and Bluestreak went on to record a 3-2 victory. Tomas Healy with a brace and Daragh O'Riordan also on the scoresheet.
Boca 2-1 Kearneys Army
A tight game remained scoreless at the half time interval. Kearneys Army nearly opened the scoring in the 40th minute after a ball cut back from the byline was struck right into the side netting. Two minutes later, Boca were ahead from a Craig Rochford goal. 10 seconds later...it was level! Using the strong wind, Kearneys Army took a shot from kick off and caught the Boca keeper out to restore parity. Paudie Sheehan the scorer of the Kearneys Army goal. Boca secured the win after Craig Rochford was taken down and Ollie Kenny dispatched the penalty.
Cutters 3-1 Team Lightning
Cutters opened the scoring in the 3rd minute as an excellent corner to front post was knocked in by Ryan Morris. Team Lightning took a while to settle into the game but started playing some good football as the half progressed. Cutters showed good energy and dealt with many Lightning long throw ins that came their way. Cutters started the second half as they started the first and doubled their lead in the 35th minute with a goal from Aidan Moriarty. In the 45th minute, a ball played in from the left hand side was knocked on by Jay and fell to Ian Sullivan in the Cutters who finished to give Lightning something to fight for. Possibly inspired by the celebrations from the neighboring pitch 5 minutes earlier, Ryan Morris decided to have a pop at goal from kick-off...and scored from it! Two goals from half way within 5 minutes each other!! Cutters dealt with the Lightning onslaught for the remainder and kept their 2 goal lead in tact. The final score ended 3-1 to Cutters.
