Analog 4-2 Delta Rejects

This seemed like an ideal fixture for Analog after last weeks first dropped points of the season draw against Boca Seniors. It was anything but as Delta Rejects were fast out of the traps with a goal after 2 minutes by Nathaniel. Delta Rejects set up shop and parked the bus to try see out what would be a monumental 1-0. Unfortunately, Nathaniel turned from hero to villain as he got a yellow card and during his sin bin Delta Rejects resistance faded, and they conceded two thanks to Analogs favourite cousins Rob and Anthony Lee. The second half started slow, but Delta Rejects were awarded a free kick within shooting distance of the Analog goal. Lee Costello pushed all his teammates aside as he looked to put Delta Rejects back in the game. And he looked right to push them aside as he angled an absolute peach of a free kick right into the top corner of the Analog goal that the keeper nor the wall could not have done anything about. Delta Rejects managers on the sideline were besides themselves as the finale was set up on a cold, wet wintery night. Delta Rejects were under immense pressure as Analog looked to respond immediately. And it was that man again Anthony Lee who put in a ball that De Bruyne or Ozil would have been proud of to lay it on a plate for his cousin Rob to put them 3-2 up. Delta Rejects responded with a few half chances and decent runs but with just 2 minutes to go Analog showed their quality and closed out the game with a fourth. Delta Rejects will take a lot of strength from this performance. Analog go marching on.

Cutters 4-2 The Lakers

This one seemed like a possible banana skin for Cutters as they came against a tough Lakers side who can mix it up when needed. Cutters were fast out of the traps with this one going 1 up thanks a beautiful cross by Cathal ‘Tots’ O Connell into midfield partner Cathal Murphy who curled it past the Lakers keepers early on. Cutters continued to show their killer instinct with another finished by Nicky O’Connell, assisted by Ian Galvin. The lakers came back with one of their own to make 2-1 from their main man Jerry O’Brien. Tots got another assist after some good work collecting the Lakers clearance when he gave it into David Fitzgearld who nearly took the roof off the net with an absolute stunner with the goal of the night.  Lakers brought it back to 3-2 thanks to some hard work and a lovely finish from Ray Mcginley which the cutters keeper could do nothing about. Lakers were really going for the result in the closing minute with lots of crosses, but cutters nipped a fourth from a Tots corner which fell for Michael White to poke home from close range. Cutters ran out deserved winners on the night.

Delta 3-1 Boca Seniors

This was a seriously heated affair on a blustery night in UL. A hard contest started with a Delta goal thanks to Dave McPhillips which turned the tension up a notch. Crunching tackles and hard-fought possessions were a constant in this game with Delta getting the better of the Boca defence again going 2-0 up with a lovely finish from Barry Heffernan. Boca grabbed one back to make it 2-1 thanks to Shane Garry for an nail biting finale. There was worries of the game boiling over at times as both teams fought tooth and nail for every ball, but the ref kept it well under check with a few stern words and a clear decision made early on to let the game flow as much as possible. In the end Deltas Wayne McNulty got the third to see this game out which I’m sure each team will be feeling for the rest of the weekend. Delta winning streak continues.

Team Lightning 3-0 Bluestreak FC

Team lightning came into this knowing they needed a win to stay in with a chance to maintain their hunt for a top 4 finish. Sure enough they got the start they needed thanks to some excellent work down the right-hand side before being crossed in to the edge of the box where Chimka calmly slotted it beyond the diving Bluestreak keeper. Bluestreak were really struggling with Team lightnings possession style of football being run ragged trying to close them down. Team lightning nipped another before half time thanks to a fine finish by the tallest man on the pitch Wobbler. As the second half began Bluestreak finally started to get comfortable knocking the ball around themselves. They were the better side for 15 or 20 minutes of the second half but unfortunately were lacking the bit of quality in the final third. Team lightning got another thanks to Chris Collopy to finish the game out comfortable winners at 3-0. They now move to within 1 point of the top 4.
